Chapter 24: here.
Title: Desperate Times (25/?)
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Jensen/Jared, Jensen/OMCs, AU, Non-con, Dub-con, MPREG
Additional Warnings For This and Upcoming Chapters for those that want them – Reading these may, in my opinion, spoil your enjoyment of the story: (Highlight to read) Acts of terrorism, violence, murder and CHARACTER DEATH (I only kill original characters, so Jared and Jensen are safe)
Jensen woke, disorientated, but when he opened his eyes Jared’s hazel eyes were gazing down at him. Jensen smiled. When all was said and done it was a pretty wonderful thing to wake up to.
The light coming through the window had a different quality to when he’d closed his eyes, he’d slept longer than he’d intended.
“What time is it?”
“No idea.”
“Should really get up.” Jensen made a move to do just that but Jared’s hand on his chest halted the attempt. “Wha…?”
He tracked the path of Jared’s eyes, down from his face, to his chest, stopping at the tell-tale swell of his stomach. It taunted him from above the waist band of his boxers. It wasn’t big, not yet, but it was visible when it wasn’t hidden beneath clothes.
“How long have you known?” Jared’s voice was quiet. Not upset, awestruck.
“For sure? A couple of weeks.” Jensen’s hand moved of its own volition, attempted to cover the curve. Jared beat him to it. A gentle circling of fingers sent a fountain of tingles along each nerve. Heat flooded his heart, rushed to his groin and his vision misted.
Fuck. How he hated the way his body would send him mixed signals. It appeared to revel in confusing him lately.
“How far along are you? I mean, four months. Isn’t that what the text books say you should be before you’re showing like this?” Jared’s eyes never strayed from the area below Jensen’s navel and Jensen lay back on the bed, moved his hands down to the comforter. Let Jared look. Jensen didn’t need to see. He’d been doing his fair share of looking himself.
“It seems I’ve already got them rewriting the books as far as Gestate pregnancy’s concerned. Jeff’s got a few theories.”
“You’ve spoken to Jeff?”
“Wasn’t my idea. Trey wouldn’t go to Jeff on his own. While I was there, well, it kinda came up in conversation. It seems the good doctor’s quite observant.”
“What’d he say?”
Jensen shrugged, “It’s always possible I’ve just been eating too much…” Jared’s disbelieving look stopped him from continuing along that path. “Jeff says my eating habits may have something to do with me already showing. Being a little on the skinny side could make the baby bump stand out. Or the baby could just be really big. Like, maybe I’m having a junior giant?” Jensen meant for it to be a joke and Jared took it as one. An embarrassed grin split his face in half.
Jensen knew Jared wanted to lay claim to the child. He hoped he had a reason to.
“How far along does he figure you are?”
“He thinks I conceived in those first few days. That makes it about nine weeks.”
Jared nodded. Rolled onto his back and pulled Jensen close so that they were spooning again.
“Are you feeling okay? Sick or anything?”
“Sometimes. Not every day, but sometimes.”
They lay silent for a while. Jensen reveled in the attention Jared was paying him. He’d missed the feel of Jared’s fingers on his skin. Those big hands waking up a body he didn’t realize had been sleeping.
He wanted …
Oh, God how he wanted. But he didn’t know if he could ask for it. Didn’t know if he should. There was a vast difference between being forced into having sex and making the decision to have it.
He couldn’t blame himself for the one, he could for the other. He knew the church wouldn’t approve … but the church hadn’t exactly stood by him. The diocese had buckled under the pressure exerted by the authorities while he’d still been in the hospital. Their protests at the hearing had been a foot note, a token.
If you can have a child then it’s God’s will, Jensen. A child would be a blessing.
It had been the actions of men, the science of men, that had caused this – not God. Only Father Michael had spoken for him, but his words had been ignored.
Along with everyone else’s.
Jared pulled him closer, brought Jensen’s head to rest under his chin while their legs became tangled. As a couple of fingers strayed beneath the waist band of his boxers, Jensen’s breath caught.
He wouldn’t say no.
He wouldn’t.
But they grew still before they could touch the flesh that had begun to ache. Jared didn’t exert any pressure but Jensen wanted him to. He knew he wouldn’t be able to continue denying himself if he remained this close to Jared.
Jensen had no intention of moving away.
Sam sat on the porch watching the doe, just beyond the tree line. Her ears twitched, alert to the changes in scent on the wind, to the slightest movement, but Sam had been watching her for the last ten minutes and he had no intention of frightening her off. He let her be the barometer of his mood, as long as he stayed calm she would, and he wouldn’t do anything until he could think through his options.
And there had to be options.
He’d suspected that Sarah’s death could have been avoided, that the security guard had been too quick to raise his gun and shoot at them, but it hadn’t occurred to him, until Chris’ call, that she’d been under suspicion – that she’d been betrayed.
His first impulse had been to find the son of a bitch and put a bullet in his head. His second had been to drag it out, use a knife, torture the bastard first.
The old him, the him before the woman who stole his heart, would’ve done just that – still might – but he had to think things through.
Sarah would never forgive him if he jeopardized someone’s safety for the sake of a little vengeance. She’d given her life for Jensen, for Trey. He couldn’t let her sacrifice go to waste.
But he couldn’t let the man he held responsible for her death – at least in part – get away without punishment.
Sam’s grin was feral. He could think of many, many ways to administer the appropriate punishment.
As the figure left the cabin, startling the deer before heading towards the lake, Sam knew what he was going to do.
He’d talk to Chris about it when he arrived later.
Between the two of them they’d make sure the bastard paid.
“Do you miss your family?”
Jared closed his eyes, nodding before he realized that Jensen couldn’t see him. “Yeah.” The word wasn’t strong enough to convey how much, but along with Jensen, his thoughts were dominated by his mother and brother.
“I do too.” Jensen took hold of Jared’s fingers, started playing with them. Idly, nervously. “Since I found out I’ve had the urge to talk to my mom.”
Jared smiled as Jensen blushed. He ran a finger lightly from Jensen’s forehead, along his nose, before stopping at his lips. “I can understand that.” Jared leant forward, pulled Jensen’s body back, and replaced his fingers with his mouth. The kiss wasn’t quite as chaste as he’d intended it to be. Jensen’s mouth opened under the gentle pressure before he pulled away. “Maybe you’ll be able to talk to her soon.”
“I hope so. Sam says it isn’t safe to call yet but he’s managed to get a message to my brother so they at least know I’m alright.”
Jared listened to the cabin door slam closed and rolled off the bed. He needed to change the subject. There was only so much guilt a person could carry. “Hungry?”
“You know what? I think I am.”
“You seen Jensen?”
Jack shook his head. He didn’t want to get into a conversation with the moody teenager if he could avoid it, and he tried to avoid Trey whenever possible. The large bump that preceded him was a reminder of how Tom had been the last time he’d seen him. Tom had been happy while he was pregnant. Happy as soon as he’d started showing and the pressure to conceive within six months had disappeared. “Not in the last hour since you asked, no.”
Jack waited for Trey to say something else. The boy looked like he’d swallowed a wasp, the distaste he’d developed for anyone with the role ‘Inseminate’ evident. He didn’t spout any of the expected venom though. Instead he turned on his heel and stormed out the door, slamming it being him.
What the hell kind of parent was that kid going to be? A bad one, that’s for sure. From what he’d overheard earlier the stupid little sod wanted to get rid of it. The baby’d done nothing to deserve that.
Nothing.
Jack thought of his own son. Two months old by now and alone in the world. Vulnerable. Helpless. With Tom gone his baby boy needed his daddy.
He cursed himself that he hadn’t left the motel sooner. He hadn’t expected anyone to come back for him, not when things went wrong. The call he’d been waiting for, the one telling him how he could claim what was his, missed because Christian fucking Kane had knocked on the motel door and told him to grab his stuff.
He’d lost another three weeks with his son.
But he’d be with him soon. Kane was coming back. That’s what Jack was going to focus on. Kane was coming back and he’d take Jack away from here – take him to civilization. He could contact the authorities then, and they’d want to make a deal.
He had more to trade now.
He’d give them the safe house for his boy.
Maybe Jared would get away. He’d been saying that he was thinking of leaving and he’d be so much better off if he did. Jared was a good kid – didn’t deserve what would happen if he was arrested.
But he’d give them Morgan, and Sam.
He was sorry about Jensen, but he was too valuable.
A couple of days, that’s all. And he’ll finally be with his boy.

Date: 2008-09-24 09:49 pm (UTC)How sweet Jensen and Jared's reunion is. And Jeff has theories, has he, about the size of the bump? Well, as long as Jensen's healthy.
Now just let Jack tip his hand before Jared confesses and Sam punishes the wrong man for Sarah's loss.
Nice update, thank you!

JUNIOR GIANT ! \O/
i think sam alread know who's the traitor, but i have this feeling that jared will stand up to take the blame soon, confusing sam theories. i really really don't like jack.
and i have a fair idea of what punishment sam has in his mind.
i can't wait to see the first time jensen will touch jared :D
also? Chris! i want to see Chris in action.
...and i'm pretty sure trey's gonna die too.
thanks sweety, this story is more and more awesome.

Date: 2008-09-24 10:32 pm (UTC)Oh man, this is making me nervous. I'm getting concerned that Jared's guilt over calling his parents may lead him telling Jack he was the reason the plan went wrong, and that will lead to a misunderstanding and Jared will be in danger for something he didn't do. Do not want!
And this thing with Jack is so sad--I didn't know Tom had died, I guess I should have considered that--but, oh, what he's doing is wrong. Ahhhh, I hope he gets caught!
And once more: JENSEN'S PREGNANT YAY! You have no idea how excited that makes me, it's sort of ridiculous.

Date: 2008-09-24 10:52 pm (UTC)I don't know what Sam's planning but if it stops Jack I'm right behind it. Jack is a selfish SoB, if he can turn in Jensen and Jared without a second thought.
Looking forward to more.

Date: 2008-09-24 11:19 pm (UTC)Whatever Sam has planned, it's going to get really ugly, isn't it? Jared better not confess to that phone call and then get punished for something that wasn't his fault. :(
Oh Jack, you stupid, naive moron! That is so not acceptable!
Thank you for the update!

Date: 2008-09-25 04:11 am (UTC)I can't' help but feel bad for Jack. He is in a 'no win' situation.
I just hope Sam realizes all of that before Jared confesses his own self-induced guilt. I am thinking that Jensen is the only one who saw the baby's photo, right?
I'm so glad Jensen is starting to want something, anything, for himself. He has had a difficult time for many months. Lost his innocence, his career, his child, even his faith (although, I hope he gets some of that back). I hope he realizes it's okay to want something for yourself, not to always give.
Great story. I can't wait for more. I like Wednesdays more than Sundays. They come faster. :)

Date: 2008-09-25 05:49 am (UTC)Great stuff, really!
Especially the last two chapters, when Jensen not longer appears as a broken, apathetic person.
But I think , you won´t last this perfect idyll any longer, are you? I´m afraid about what Jack is going to do. I SO hope Jared will maybe sense, that somthing is going on and save Jen and himself.
But I am afraid, this story isn´t like that...

Date: 2008-09-28 11:17 pm (UTC)Well, I don't want to comment on all the subplots, because I don't really know how that's working out, but I had the weirdest idea, and you're gonna kill me. Haha.
You mentioned that they didn't know the mechanism of how exactly a man becomes pregnant, and you mentioned parthenogenesis, which always reminds me of turkeys. Yes, turkeys reproduce that way, LOL.
So, anyway, you know I've convinced myself I want Jensen to be having twins even that's cruel to the poor boy. Bwahahahaha! Like that should bother me. And since I was already thinking farm animals, I wondered if you know about freemartins? When cattle have twins, one of each sex, the female calf is almost always sterile because the testosterone produced by the male fetus prevents her ovaries from forming properly. That doesn't usually happen in humans because human fetuses don't share a placenta, but since you said they don't know how it all works in men, I thought that might a possible complications. I mean, if there was a chance the first female born to a male would be sterile because of a twin brother, someone might do something drastic. Hmmmmm. Anyway, just ignore me. Hahahaha. I just had to mention that. It's your fault for bringing up the turkeys.
