“I don’t want you to go.”

Jensen moved closer to Jared as soon as the larger man climbed in, inching his way across the mattress so that he was touching as much of his lover as possible. He laid his head on Jared’s chest and stroked a hand across the muscles of his stomach, fingers dancing in the rise and dips of his abs, in the hollow of his navel, on the skin just below it.

He wasn’t averse to playing dirty and he smiled as the muscles twitched and Jared’s breath became heavier in anticipation of Jensen’s hand continuing its journey south.

It had been more than a week since they’d done anything more strenuous – more intimate - than cuddling – and if Jared was going away, leaving him, how much longer would it be before they could be together?

Jared rested his hand on Jensen’s, trapped it, held it still. “I just think it would be a good idea if I was away from here for a couple of days.”

Jensen didn’t want to pout but found himself doing it anyway. He spoke into Jared’s skin, refusing to lift his eyes to see Jared’s face. “Why? This is the first night you’ve spent in this bed since before I got sick.”

“Exactly Jen.” Jared picked up the captured hand, kissed the fingers. “Do you have any idea how badly I’ve wanted to be with you? Do you know how hard it’s going to be to not touch you in front of your family?”

Jensen’s frown also went unobserved. They could be together. It wasn’t going to be a problem, Jensen wasn’t going to let it be. “You don’t have to not touch me Jared. Like I told Josh, I’m not prepared to hide us.”

He felt Jared’s lips against the crown of his head before he spoke. “There’s a difference between not hiding, and rubbing your family’s face in it. I won’t be gone for long, a night or two. Just a boring supply run, that’s what Sam said.”

Jensen lifted his head then, looked down into Jared’s eyes and willed himself not to release the emotions that would turn tonight into anything other than something good. “He said it because he thought it would put you off. Thought I would. I got the impression he doesn’t want you with him.”

Jared shook his head, the smile unwavering. “Well, he didn’t say anything like that to me. Besides, Chris and I will probably spend half our time stopping Sam and Jack from killing each other. You know they’ve never got along.”

Jared chuckled and Jensen was struck, once again, by how much he loved this man. How much Jared’s happiness meant to him. He’d never thought …

He cast the idea aside. He wasn’t an idiot. He knew things weren’t always destined to last forever, his previous life certainly hadn’t. He couldn’t bring himself to believe he and Jared would have the lasting relationship his parents had enjoyed, but, while it lasted, he was determined to savor every moment.

“I still don’t want you to go.” Jensen put his head back down onto the warm chest, kissed his way across it.

Jared didn’t stop him, but he didn’t encourage him either.

Jensen stopped kissing him, bit his lip so that nothing came out he’d regret. Damnit Jared was a stubborn bastard. Jensen didn’t know whether he was angry, upset or horny. Probably, the way things were these days it was a combination of all three.

“Come on Jen, use the time. Bond with the people who travelled here to see you. Gave up everything to be with you. The lack of … an atmosphere … will help you guys remember how good it can be.”

Jensen knew Jared was talking sense, didn’t mean he had to like it.

He didn’t have a problem with spending more time with his family.

Well, he didn’t have much of one.

His dad was always easy to get along with but the only time he didn’t face a lecture off his mother was when she was smothering him.

Now that Sam and Chris had brought the equipment for Jeff’s clinic – the men of the camp helping set up while Jensen and Trey had been allowed to do nothing more strenuous than watch – Jensen could foresee more rows and arguments than ever. He knew she wanted the best for him, they just didn’t agree on what that was.

“If you’re away for more than one night, will you be able to let me know?”

Jared smiled, pulled Jensen’s body closer. Manhandled him so that Jensen was lying on top, chest to chest, his knees on either side of Jared’s hips. “Chris is setting up radio communication at the clinic. I’ll be able to contact you there.”

Jensen frowned. At the clinic! Everyone was conspiring against him.

“Besides, all we’re going to be doing is retrieving Sam’s truck and pick up enough fuel and food to last through the snows that are meant to come this way soon. It won’t take long to get it all together.”

Jensen felt Jared’s hands rest on his ass, finger sliding into the crease. Teasing.

Jensen sighed. “Jared?”

“I think, perhaps, we should take advantage of the time we do have. Remind you of what you’ve been missing, and what you’ve got to look forward to when I get home.”

As Jensen’s tongue started dueling with Jared’s he stopped caring that he’d lost the argument.

By the time Jared had him on his back he’d forgotten what they’d been arguing about.

Chris blew the smoke out into the night sky, grinning at the breathy sounds coming from the open window.

“Pervert.”

Chris grinned as Sam approached, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth and pointing it towards him. “Come on, that’s hot man. You’ve been there. You can’t deny that Jensen’s got one hell of a body, even with the bun in the oven.” He took another puff, “Besides, they’re saying ‘goodbye’.”

The smile dropped off Sam’s face then, and he sighed, “Yeah. Jared coming with isn’t ideal but, well, I think he’ll cooperate.”

Chris raised his eyebrows, “Really? You think so? That boy’s too fucking pure, Sam.” The word pure was accompanied by Jared’s breathy voice and Chris chuckled at the vulgarity the boy was spouting. “Okay, maybe not pure. But he’s not going to handle what we’ve got planned.”

Sam’s hand swept across his mouth, the skin stretching tight. “I think he will. Especially if he thinks Jensen’s safety’s at risk.”

“I know he loves the dude an’ all but you really think we can trust him?”

Sam sat on the porch step and waited until Chris joined him. When he was offered a cigarette this time, he took it.

“Jared spent weeks thinking he was responsible for Sarah – I think he’ll follow our lead. Wherever we go, he’ll follow.” Sam savored the first puff, tried to remember the last time he’d enjoyed a smoke.

“You got a lot of faith in him.”

“I trust him not to betray us. That’s all. He doesn’t have to watch, he just has to not try to stop us.”

Chris threw the butt onto the ground and lit another.

“How’d you get Jack to agree to come along, anyway?”

Chris smirked, obviously pleased with himself. “Oh, that was easy. The poor guy’s going stir crazy round here. Offered him a night away, beer, good food, change of scene, new faces – he was jumping at the chance to get away.”

“God Jared, pleeeeassse.”

Sam didn’t want to hear what his friends were doing, but they were being anything other than quiet. He shrugged – it wasn’t the first time he’d heard them at it, probably wasn’t going to be the last.

Chris took a long draw before blowing out the smoke and readjusting his pants. Sam wasn’t surprised that the noises the boys were making was having an effect on Chris. “That boy’s got some stamina.”

Sam laughed. Chris, really didn’t see the funny side as he stood up, adjusted himself again.

Just then the porch was lit up as a light went on in the living room. Chris quickly went to the window, cupped his hands against the glass so he could see inside.

“Looks like mom and dad have been woken up.”

Sam didn’t even bother looking up, “I bet Donna’s pissed?”

“And then some.”
