I'm always nervous about Sam, and this chapter--seeing Jensen start to trust him, knowing how he really is and what he's capable of, how easy it would be for him to hurt Jensen--is concerning. And now the problems stemming from Jared's possessiveness and affection for Jensen vs having to share him (especially with someone like Sam) are starting. #wrings hands#
That said, another great chapter! I think this really helped to drive home to the audience just how vulnerable and exploited Jensen really is here. That image of him lying prostrate and exposed like that at the exam was really powerful to me, because it showed how the Centre dehumanizes people, turns them into nothing more than bodies to be used.
I know that's obvious with the way Jensen's role is to serve as a sexual object meant for procreation, but that can get overlooked sometimes in the general storyline and the sort of detached-from-reality atmosphere of the breeding room, so seeing him that way, from a separate and purely medical standpoint, was sort of jarring and just reminded me of the severity of Jensen's situation.
Also, I'm glad that you've once again brought up Jensen's importance to the center--the only Gestate who can conceive a girl--and the growing hostility towards the Centre. I want to see what happens next! ^___~
